- Wood Buffalo, Alberta, a region within the state of Alberta that contains the City of Fort McMurray.
- Buffalo Republic, a long lasting city state which evolved into the most important state within the Inuit Alliance. After it was captured by the British, the city was renamed Fort McMurray.
- Buffalo (god), believed to be the River Empire's chief deity, so named because, according to scholars, the River People sought to pay tribute to the City of Buffalo, their most important city.
