The Virgin Mary (fl. AD 20-40) is the name given to a Roman citizen by the name of Miriam, the mother of Joshua the Nazarene, the man generally accepted as Jesus. Very little is known about Miriam except that Joshua may have addressed the Q document to her, and that a fragmented record of Pontius Pilate states that she was a Vestigal Virgin who operated in Palestine. It is unknown if she married, and scholars widely debate the parameters surrounding the birth of Joshua.
